Marcus Stoinis scored his first IPL century, making 124 runs not out off 63 balls, helping Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Stoinis rescued LSG from a tough situation when they were at 33/2, playing a great innings and keeping the scoreboard moving. Nicholas Pooran (34 runs off 15 balls) and Deepak Hooda (17 runs not out off 6 balls) also played well under pressure, supporting Stoinis in winning the match for LSG. Stoinis took charge when LSG needed 17 runs from the last over, hitting four boundaries off Mustafizur Rahman to finish the game with style. This victory marked the highest successful run-chase in IPL history at Chepauk.

First CSK Captain To Score Century.ย

Before LSG’s innings, Ruturaj Gaikwad became the first CSK captain to score a century in the IPL. He played beautifully, scoring 104 runs off just 46 balls and formed a strong partnership of 104 runs with Shivam Dube.

Early Damage Done By CSK.

When CSK was defending the target of 211 runs, they made a good start by taking early wickets in the Powerplay. Deepak Chahar dismissed Quinton de Kock on just the third ball of the innings. Marcus Stoinis came in to bat at No.3 and played aggressively. Although Rahul hit a six and a four, Mustafizur Rahman got him out soon after.

Stoinis continued to attack, but CSK kept Devdutt Padikkal quiet. Stoinis took on Moeen Ali in the ninth over, striking a powerful four and a big six. He hit fifty in the next over, taking only 26 balls.

As the pressure increased, Devdutt Padikkal struggled, eventually falling to Matheesha Pathirana’s beautiful delivery in the 11th over. Stoinis and Pooran then accelerated, bringing the equation down to 74 runs off 30 balls. Pooran unleashed in the next over, taking 20 runs off Shardul Thakur. Despite CSK’s efforts, Stoinis reached his century off 56 balls, with Hooda’s support. With 17 needed off the final over, Stoinis sealed the victory with a flurry of boundaries, finishing unbeaten on 124 off 63 balls, while Hooda remained not out on 17 off 6.

Decent Start By CSK.

Initially, Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to field. They got off to a wonderful start, with Rahul making an amazing one-handed grab to eliminate Ajinkya Rahane in the first over. LSG missed another opportunity when Yash Thakur dropped Daryl Mitchell. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad then punished LSG with two straight fours. Gaikwad continued to play admirably, but Deepak Hooda’s brilliant catch sent Mitchell back. CSK scored 49/2 after six overs.

He and Ravindra Jadeja scored 52 runs together, but Mohsin Khan removed Jadeja in the 12th over. Gaikwad had scored the majority of the team’s runs at this point.

A Strong Finish By CSK.

Shivam Dube hit two sixes and a four off Mohsin Khan to reach fifty excitingly, following his captain’s example. Dube and Gaikwad scored 100 runs together, and Dube hit a big six offย Stoinis in the last over. However, Dube got run out for 66 runs. When MS Dhoni walked onto the pitch with only two balls left, the crowd went wild. After Gaikwad hit a single, Dhoni hit a four, which made the Chennai fans very happy and ended the action at 210/4. Gaikwad remained unbeaten, scoring 108 runs off 60 balls as CSK scored 91 runs in the final six overs.
