The upcoming Twenty20 World Cup will see 20 teams competing for the championship. This exciting tournament will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, running from June 1 to June 29.
New Zealand announced their squad on April 29, making them the first team to declare their lineup for the Twenty20 World Cup. To date, 19 teams have revealed their squads, with Pakistan being the only nation yet to finalize theirs. All teams are preparing intensively to clinch the World Cup title.
In a unique move, the England team has enlisted the expertise of Manchester City football club’s psychologist, David Young, to enhance their performance and boost their chances of victory.
David Young boasts an outstanding track record and has also collaborated with the England cricket team in the past.
Manchester City recently secured their fourth consecutive Premier League title, with Young being a key contributor to their triumph. Before his tenure with the Premier League club, Young served with the England senior cricket team from 2016 to 2020.
In preparation for the Twenty20 World Cup, the England cricket team is set to play a T20 series against Pakistan. Young will begin his role with the England squad for this series and will continue to support them throughout the World Cup.
England coach Matthew Mott commented, “David has previously worked with our team and has proven to be a valuable asset.
Even though he has other responsibilities, he will be joining us for the upcoming series and the World Cup. His familiarity with our players and his expertise will be crucial as we gear up for the challenges ahead.”
Mott highlighted Young’s positive influence on the team’s performance and morale, noting his ability to offer essential support in high-pressure situations. The England squad eagerly anticipates leveraging his experience and insights as they strive for victory in the forthcoming matches.
