On March 29, 2024, at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Virat Kohli secured the Orange Cap by scoring his 67th run against KKR. He surpassed Henry Klaasen of Hyderabad to claim the Orange Cap title.
In this match, Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 83 runs, completing his 52nd half-century in the IPL. During this inning, he hit four sixes, surpassing AB de Villiers’ record for the most sixes by a player from Royal Challengers Bangalore. AB de Villiers had previously hit the most sixes, i.e. 239 while playing for RCB. Now, Virat Kohli has become the player with the most sixes from RCB.

Similarly, while hitting these 4 sixes, he also broke the record of sixes in the IPL of former Indian captain and great player Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has hit 239 sixes in IPL, while Kohli has hit 241 sixes.
Virat Kohli previously won the Orange Cap in IPL 2016. His total of 973 runs in IPL 2016 is the highest by any player in a single season and the record still stands today.
Looking back at the last season, in IPL 2023, Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans) won the Orange Cap. He scored 890 runs in 17 matches during the 2023 IPL season. Notably, Virat Kohli was also 4th on the list of highest run-scorers, with 639 runs in the previous season.

4. If two players score equal runs, the player with the higher strike rate is awarded the orange cap.
5. Shaun Marsh became the first player to win the Orange Cap in the first IPL season in 2008.
